Don't you just love sun flowers? When we were in Vienna last summer, my husband (he's definitly a keeper!) bought me a big bouquet of them to take back with us on the ship. My parents had sent us on the river cruise and set us up in a top-notch cabin. The staff brought me a lovely caraffe (sp?) to put them in and they brightened our cabin for days. A beautiful photograph once again, Merisi! ~Allie
We have had so much rain in my part of the world - I feel just like the sunflower in your photo - rather droopy and looking forward to raising my face to the sun whenever it decides to shine again here in NH. I enjoyed my visit to your blog.
Thank you so much, Allie! I share your love of sunflowers. ;-)
David, thank you for your kind words! I discovered them at the far corner of the beautiful gardens of Schloss Kittsee, a quite enchanting castle, summer palace, in the middle of the countryside. The head gardener had observed that I was taking pictures, and he was quite pleased that I had noticed them. He is one of these people who not only are very good at their craft, but love what they are doing.
So nice to see you here, Crystal Jigsaw, thank you! Sunflowers seem to brighten anybody's heart, and birds seem to seed them quite often, accidentally of course. ;-)
Debbie, I hope the sun's back in your part of the world! We have been so lucky here, sunny and pleasant most of the time (well, today it's a bit cloudy, an almost welcome break, like an invitation to work hard to be able to get back out into the sun as soon as it rises out of the clouds).
I seek to capture the beauty that is present in every day, and there is inevitably so much more than I could ever expect to grasp.
National Geographic Traveler About Merisi's: "Each entry features a collection of photos from Merisi's excursions around town. This is a great place to start if you are looking for some local perspective."
Spotted by Locals
Merisi’s blog is a venture through the best photos of the Viennese landscape of a local: the Viennese dogs, the spring, and especially the cafes!
If you live in Vienna, this blog is gonna make you feel like you’re missing out on something and if you’ve been there, you’ll definitely wish you never left!
Merisi's Vienna was selected Blog of Note in February 2009

Love it, Merisi - because it's such an unusual view of such a recognisable plant!
I also adore sunflowers. I am afraid I am not at all green fingered therefore I have plastic ones brightening up my patio.
